Part-Time Client Care Coordinator & Family Mediator (In-Training)

Job Summary

The Common Sense Divorce has refined a very successful financially-focused, family mediation process that navigates clients through the negotiation of their separation agreement as amicably and efficiently as possible.

The part-time Client Care Coordinator will assume Client Care responsibilities and receive direct training from Common Sense Divorce’s Client Care Team and lead mediators according to the family mediation processes established by The Common Sense Divorce. Potential Candidates who are not yet fully AccFM accredited, but who have completed the required academic training may potentially acquire the supervised practical internship hours necessary for their mediation certification. Once fully trained and accredited, the coordinator may also conduct mediation services for Common Sense Divorce clients.

Responsibilities: Client Care

  • Conduct intake calls with new contacts to assess their situation and explain our services
  • Conduct one-on-one Orientation & Planning Sessions with clients at our various offices to further assess the client’s situation and create a customized transition plan
  • Nurture clients until retention
  • Coordinate the client journey: Retention & Administrative Setup,  Financial Disclosure Interview and Document Verification, Introduction to Professional Team Members (Mediators, CDFA’s, Lawyers, Ancillary Service Professionals)

Responsibilities: Family Mediation

  • Shadow CSD Mediator until certification hours have been fulfilled
  • Transition towards CSD Mediator and deliver mediation services following the process that has been established by CSD
  • Work in partnership with an existing Team of CDFA/CFDS, Therapists and Family Lawyers
  • Facilitate Constructive Communication between spouses in disagreement with each other by keeping each side calm and allowing each to feel that they are being heard and addressed
  • Employ dispute resolution techniques to create an environment that allows parties to reach a solution that is acceptable to both sides
  • Draft Memos of Understanding and facilitate legal documentation with Family Lawyers that bring both parties to a binding resolution
  • Convey the clients’ goals and agreements to other team members (CDFA, Lawyers, Mortgage Brokers, Realtors, Therapists, etc.)


  • Post-secondary degree or diploma with a Family Mediation certification; or
  • Relevant Family Mediation experience with related work experience (e.g. Social Worker, Therapist, CDFA/CFDS, Nursing, Clergy etc.) an asset
  • Must have a passion for working with clients facing crisis
  • Exhibit trustworthiness, approachability, dedication, perceptiveness and impartiality
  • Computer literate a must (typing, emails, desktop applications, online applications, legal technology)


  • This position reports to the Common Sense Divorce Administrator(s)


  • This position works from The Common Sense Divorce head office (Markham, ON)
  • This position also meets with clients at various CSD office locations across GTA
  • Certain Remote (work-from-home) hours may be considered
